It’s that time of year again! Time to make snow angels in the yard, hang up the Christmas decorations, shower your loved ones with thoughtful gifts, and of course, make time to create quality memories with your family. In Airdrie, there are tons of experiences and events this time of year to get you in the holiday spirit and get the family together– one of which is the Airdrie Festival of Lights. This holiday extravaganza is a well-known and well-loved part of Airdrie’s holiday festivity line up. However, for those of you not in the know, we’ve found out everything in store for this year’s Festival of Lights. This year Qualico Communities is a Green Light Sponsor. On December 22, we will be sponsoring a live reindeer activation as well!
Located in Airdrie’s Nose Creek Park, the Airdrie Festival of Lights is Western Canada’s biggest jaw-dropping, displays of lights and special features. This volunteer-run event is taking place from December 1st to 31st and will feature tons of family-friendly activities for you and the little ones to enjoy. Better yet, it’s all free! This year will feature 13 major light displays throughout the park with more than 50,000 bulbs illuminating your path. Not only is there lots to see at the festival, but there’s also lots to do. Hop on miniature trains that carry the entire family for a ride along pre-set paths or cuddle up around open bonfires with a hot cup of cocoa or apple cider. The Festival of Lights will also offer opportunities for some Christmas shopping at Santa’s gift shop filled with affordable local, handmade, and kids products.
No festival is complete without headlining events, and the Airdrie Festival of Lights has no shortage of these. Every day in December features a new Christmas experience. Come along on December 9th to hear angelic harmonies from the Airdrie Community Choir, take in a show-stopping performance by the Star Bound Dance Company on the 11th, or shake your tail feathers at the New Year’s Eve family dance party and ring in 2020 with a dazzling fireworks display. There’s something for everyone – every day.
You can experience all the joys of Christmas at the Airdrie Festival of Lights. Packed with tons of family-friendly activities, yummy holiday treats and amazing performances, this Airdrie holiday tradition isn’t one to be missed.
