Alberta’s Family Day weekend is February 17-19. This is a great opportunity to come together as a family and take in some of the fun activities offered in your community. This year, the city of Airdrie has a lot of fun things going on around city to keep your family busy all weekend long. Family Day Weekend Extravaganza

Does your family like variety? Head to Genesis Place anytime on Family Day weekend for their Family Day Weekend Extravaganza! From family skating and swimming, to zumba and gymnasium activities, your family can beat the winter blues at Genesis Place! The kids can burn off some energy and you can get in some quality family time. Enjoy the great outdoors with your family this Family Day! Head down to Chinook Winds Park for the second annual Family Day Skate. Go for a skate, play on the playground, or enjoy a warm cup of hot chocolate. Winterfest at Fort Calgary

Head to Fort Calgary on Family Day for a full day of winter fun at Winterfest! Beginning with a delicious, multi-course buffet brunch from 11:30-1:00. This interactive and historic day includes stories told by the Blackfoot Knowledge Keeper in a tipi, a family friendly movie, the opportunity to explore the Fort Calgary Museum, games, crafts and performances by the North West Mounted Police Commemorative Band! Spend an afternoon together with a refreshing drink and popcorn under a big screen! Head to SilverCity CrossIron Mills and take in a family movie this Family Day Weekend. Action, comedy, drama, the choice is yours with 7 screens playing a variety of different films. When the film is over, the fun doesn’t end! Challenge your kids to a fun game at the XSCAPE Entertainment Centre, one of the premier theatre arcades in the area. Whether you are just getting your weekend adventures started, or you’re winding the fun weekend down, a movie at SilverCity is always a great idea for family time!
Family Day at Studio Bell

Feel like a musical Family Day? Studio Bell has just what you need! With music-themed activities all day long, everyone will find their rhythm this Family Day. A live DJ, air guitar workshop, instrument demonstrations, songs and even instrument building are just some of the exciting and educational activities planned. National Music Centre experts will also be in attendance all day to educate your family on different instruments and keep your Family Day rocking. Penguin March at the Calgary Zoo
Where: The Calgary Zoo - 210 St. George’s Dr NE, Calgary
When: Every day until March, 11:00am
Cost: $24.95 for general admission, $16.95 for kids
Head to the Calgary Zoo this Family Day weekend for the sixth annual Penguin Walk; one of the Zoo’s most popular attractions! Watch on with a warm cup of hot chocolate as the king penguins take to the pathways and royally waddle their way throughout the Zoo. Starting at 11am daily, the penguins will leave the Penguin Plunge enclosure and begin to roam. Lucky visitors may have the opportunity to see up to 10 king penguins roaming the grounds. Walks are always dependent on the penguin’s desire to join in, and they are also weather dependent, as it must be between +5 and -25 for the penguins to be out.
Spend a day on the water and give fishing a try

Try something new this Family Day weekend; take the whole family fishing! Bundle up and head to any of Alberta’s beautiful rivers or lakes.
